{"id":35450,"date":"2017-07-20T16:05:01","date_gmt":"2017-07-20T16:05:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwanda-tops-africa-in-first-global-robotics\/"},"modified":"2017-07-20T16:04:57","modified_gmt":"2017-07-20T16:04:57","slug":"rwanda-tops-africa-in-first-global-robotics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwanda-tops-africa-in-first-global-robotics\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda tops Africa in First Global Robotics Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{<br \/>\nRepresented by a team of 7 students in the \u201cFirst Global\u201d Robotics Challenge, an international competition that was held in Washington DC, from the 16th to 18th July 2017, Rwanda emerged in the 9th position among 160 participating countries, and first in the African region.}<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst Global\u201d Robotics Challenge, is an annually held international competition, with the aim of expanding Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This year\u2019s theme hinged on constructing a robot that can assist in preserving water.<br \/>\nThe Rwandan group consisted of seven students of ages between fifteen and nineteen from different schools: Mugisha Aubin Marc (Remera Rukoma Secondary School); Rugerinyane Aime Regis (Lycee de Kigali); Ikirezi Paola (Excella High School); ByshimoShema Serge (SOS Technical School); Ishimwe Benitha (Stella Matutina); UwihoreyeJoselyne (Saint Ignace Secondary School); Muhirwa Frank Marcel (College saint Andre).<\/p>\n<p>It was the first time Rwanda participated in this contest but made an outstanding robot that helps in obtaining water for people.
