{"id":33167,"date":"2017-03-14T08:16:58","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T08:16:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/gunmen-kill-two-in-rusizi\/"},"modified":"2017-03-14T16:53:35","modified_gmt":"2017-03-14T16:53:35","slug":"gunmen-kill-two-in-rusizi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/gunmen-kill-two-in-rusizi\/","title":{"rendered":"Gunmen kill two in Rusizi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Two Rwandans were killed while another was injured in an attack by armed gunmen in western Rwandan town of Rusizi, on Sunday morning.}<\/p>\n<p>According a statement   from Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), one of the deceased and the wounded were on night patrol locally called Irondo at a health post, while the second dead victim was a 12-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis morning, at around 1.00 in Rusizi District, Bugarama Sector, Ryankana cell, Kabuga village, unidentified armed group attacked and killed two civilians and wounded one,\u201d said the acting Defence and Military spokesperson Lt Col Rene Ngendahimana.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the unidentified gunmen withdrew to Burundi as the incident took place near the border with Burundi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigations into the incident have started to establish the identity of the attackers,\u201d Ngendahimana said.<\/p>\n<p>The year 2016 ended with frosty relations between Rwanda and Burundi following allegations that Kigali was meddling in Bujumbura affairs.
