{"id":32832,"date":"2017-02-26T06:59:25","date_gmt":"2017-02-26T06:59:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/pupils-of-rise-to-shine-school-visit-rnp-on-study\/"},"modified":"2017-02-26T06:59:21","modified_gmt":"2017-02-26T06:59:21","slug":"pupils-of-rise-to-shine-school-visit-rnp-on-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/pupils-of-rise-to-shine-school-visit-rnp-on-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Pupils of \u2018Rise to Shine School\u2019 visit RNP on study tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pupils of \u2018Rise To Shine Nursery and Primary School\u2019 located in Masaka Sector of Kicukiro District, on February 24, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru as part of their study tour to understand the policing activities.<\/p>\n<p>Headed by the school headmistress, Beatrice Bamurange, the pupils were received by the Commissioner for Community Policing in RNP, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Celestin Twahirwa alongside ACP Theos Badege, commissioner for Public Relations and Media in RNP.<\/p>\n<p>They were briefed on various activities of RNP and child protection measures in particular, their rights as children including the right to education, to know their parents, and their role in community policing.<\/p>\n<p>ACP Twahirwa thanked the management of the school for exposing the children to policing activities to learn more about their country, their rights which further build their confidence, determination and focus to their education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChildren as you are considered as the future of this country, and that\u2019s why in all sectors of security and development you are among the priorities,\u201d ACP Twahirwa told the pupils.<\/p>\n<p>Fighting Gender-Based Violence and Child Abuse are among the RNP major priorities. The week-long countrywide activities to mark the 16th anniversary of RNP, last year, focused mainly on raising awareness on promotion and protection of the rights of children.<\/p>\n<p>The pupils were also explained on the hotlines \u2013 116 for child help line and 3029 for Isange One Stop Centre \u2013 which were established for anyone to report any form of child abuse to ensure that the culprit is prosecuted and the victim supported through Isange with free medical, psycho-socio and legal services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is equally your duty to fight and prevent a crime by reporting any criminal act you see in your communities, school and even at home. Your country strives for the best for you, so concentrate on your studies, respect your teachers and parents, and always be hygienic,\u201d ACP Badege said.<\/p>\n<p>Various schools; nursery, primary and secondary have been visiting Rwanda National Police for their study tours to understand their role in community policing.<\/p>\n<p>Equally, Police across the country engage students in community policing activities through sensitization.<\/p>\n<p>Through this partnership, at least over 1000 anti-crime clubs have been created in various schools countrywide, which form a platform through which they discuss on varied issues related to fighting drug abuse, child abuse and gender based violence, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Source:Police<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pupils of \u2018Rise To Shine Nursery and Primary School\u2019 located in Masaka Sector of Kicukiro District, on February 24, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru as part of their study tour to understand the policing activities.
