{"id":32807,"date":"2017-02-24T15:35:11","date_gmt":"2017-02-24T15:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/first-lady-attends-gael-faye-s-literature-show\/"},"modified":"2017-02-28T12:37:11","modified_gmt":"2017-02-28T12:37:11","slug":"first-lady-attends-gael-faye-s-literature-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/first-lady-attends-gael-faye-s-literature-show\/","title":{"rendered":"First Lady attends Ga\u00ebl Faye\u2019s literature show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Madam Jeannette Kagame yesterday joined other poetry and literature enthusiasts  at Kacyiru Public Library to appreciate readings from Petit Payes, by  Ga\u00ebl Faye dubbed \u2018Petit Pays\u2019. }<\/p>\n<p>The event dubbed  \u2018Music and Poetry Evening\u2019 was also attended by the first daughter  Ange Kagame.     <\/p>\n<p>Ga\u00ebl Faye,  a Rwandan artist and  author,  was joined by another  artist Samuel Kamanzi to read the story of  \u2018Petit Pays\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>The book \u2018Petit Pays\u2019 is about life of a child born in Burundi to a female Rwandan refugee and white French citizen who worked in Burundi. <\/p>\n<p>The story stirred participants\u2019 emotions as Ga\u00ebl read part of the book describing the child\u2019s hard life especially emanating from racial discrimination of Hutus and Tutsi in addition to  having been born from parents of a  different race and turbulent regional politics which hampered his dreams from coming true. <\/p>\n<p>Ga\u00ebl Faye has said that his book will have been translated into 28 languages between 2017and 2018 including Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Arabic, and Chinese among others. <\/p>\n<p>Talking at the event Ga\u00ebl Faye said \u201cI am first of all delighted to see many people coming to support me. I am happy that Rwanda doesn\u2019t currently favor racial discrimination,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Ga\u00ebl Faye explained that there is a delegation in France planning to act out the book into a film. <\/p>\n<p>Following the event, Madam Jeannette Kagame thanked Ga\u00ebl Faye via twitter account.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany thanks Ga\u00ebl Faye for Petit Pays. It is a great honor to our history and strength to our citizens,\u201d she tweeted. <\/p>\n<p>On 1st September 2016 Petit Pays\u2019 book received an award from Fnac library which sells books online.
