{Over 80 hygiene mobilisers operating in Kicukiro District have been urged to go an extra mile and equally engage in community policing activities.}<\/p>\n
They were also urged to share relevant information with security organs on criminals and illegal activities.<\/p>\n
The call was made by the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), Inspector of Police (IP) Hamdun Twizeyimana, on January 31, during a meeting held in Kagarama Sector.<\/p>\n
There are at least two hygiene mobilisers in every cell in Kicukiro, charged with inspecting sanitation in neighbourhoods and advise homesteads of the best means to keep clean.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlways keep in mind that security is the pillar for development, without it we can\u2019t make any progress that\u2019s why we need to ensure we preserve it at all times and that\u2019s how the ideal of community policing was born to empower everyone to ensure that security is maintained in neighbourhoods,\u201d said IP Twizeyimana.<\/p>\n
He added that modern policing requires strong partnership, as well as mutual trust which is a necessity in building a longstanding foundation for community security.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe involvement of citizens in crime prevention is essential to ensuring safer and vibrant communities. It’s one of the priorities to improve the quality of life for all citizens. Each individual\u2019s commitment and participation in community policing initiatives does indeed make an impact,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Grace Musanabaganwa, the official in charge of hygiene and sanitation in Kicukiro reminded the mobilisers that, \u201cWe should collectively collaborate with Rwanda National Police in anti-crime awareness and prevention; we can do this by being part of different initiatives that are aligned with crime prevention like neighborhood watch, night patrols and providing timely information.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
