{The Northern Region Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bertin Mutezintare met with 65 judicial police officers operating in the region on January 22, and urged them to aim for \u201cquality\u201d and evidence-based in their judicial duties.}<\/p>\n
He singled out fighting corruption as one of those areas that requires their immense skills to ensure fair justice.<\/p>\n
The officers were undertaking a one-day training of \u2018effective service delivery.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cEffective service delivery is a must do in effective policing. Recently, we launched the Citizen Service Charter that illustrates the rights of those seeking police services, and obligations of officers to service seekers. As judicial police officers you should ensure the success of this charter,\u201d ACP Mutezintare said.<\/p>\n
The Charter developed by RNP in partnership with Transparency International-Rwanda, launched in last December came as an additional step in service excellence at all police levels.<\/p>\n
The RPC noted that police services to the public goes hand-in-hand with efforts to improve the efficiency, especially of police stations, which handle the most majority services needed by the people.<\/p>\n
\u201cBe ethical at all times, avoid and fight all sorts of corruption,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Collette Ndabarushimana, from Transparency International \u2013 Rwanda, who also attended the session, said: \u201cthis training further bridges the gap between the police and the people\u2026 Rwanda National Police has played a top role in fighting corruption that\u2019s why we are hopeful this training is adding value to the law enforcement efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhere there is poor service delivery, corruption tends to cloud everything, and we all know it\u2019s an intolerable tradition in Rwanda that should be given due attention in fighting it,\u201d Ndabarushimana said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
