{"id":31863,"date":"2017-01-17T00:32:01","date_gmt":"2017-01-17T00:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/student-arrested-with-39-forged-stamps\/"},"modified":"2017-01-17T00:32:00","modified_gmt":"2017-01-17T00:32:00","slug":"student-arrested-with-39-forged-stamps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/student-arrested-with-39-forged-stamps\/","title":{"rendered":"Student arrested with 39 forged stamps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Police in Kicukiro have arrested one Bernard Tuyishime, a student at IPRC-Kigali campus, after he was found in possession of 39 forged stamps.}<\/p>\n<p>The stamps include those of different commercial banks, government institutions, schools and law firms among others.<\/p>\n<p>Tuyishime was arrested on January 13 following a complaint filed by the school administration.<\/p>\n<p>Supt. Emmanuel Hitayezu, police spokesperson for the City of Kigali, said: \u201cSome students had informed the the IPRC administration about Tuyishime\u2019s dealings after they saw him with many stamps, and the administration in turn informed the police.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficers went and searched Tuyishime\u2019s home where they recovered 39 fake stamps bearing ensigns of government institutions, banks, schools, notaries and law firms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring investigations, we also found forged loan certificates and several other forged documents in Tuyishime\u2019s laptop computer,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He warned against falsifying legal documents and instruments adding that \u201ceven anyone holding such fake documents will be prosecuted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still investigating to find out if Tuyishime has accomplices or he gave fake stamps or helped to acquire services using forged stamps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the suspect will be charged under article 606 of the penal code.<\/p>\n<p>The article, partly, states that \u201canyone who counterfeits the seal, postal stamp or emblem of any authority shall be liable to a term of imprisonment of more than five to seven years and a fine of Rwf300, 000 to Rwf3 million.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It also adds that \u201cif counterfeit or falsified objects belong to an individual, or private legal entities, the penalty shall be a term of imprisonment of two to five years.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Police in Kicukiro have arrested one Bernard Tuyishime, a student at IPRC-Kigali campus, after he was found in possession of 39 forged stamps.} The stamps include those of different commercial banks, government institutions, schools and law firms among others.
