{"id":31628,"date":"2017-01-06T02:41:40","date_gmt":"2017-01-06T02:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/over-70-000-teachers-attend-itorero\/"},"modified":"2017-01-06T02:41:13","modified_gmt":"2017-01-06T02:41:13","slug":"over-70-000-teachers-attend-itorero","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/over-70-000-teachers-attend-itorero\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 70,000 teachers attend Itorero"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{A total of 73,288 teachers from private and public nursery up to secondary schools and Vocational training schools have started a civic education (Itorero) dubbed \u2018Indemyabigwi\u2019 to get them acquainted with  morals of Rwandan culture to properly train pupils that fully understand  Rwanda\u2019s values. }<\/p>\n<p>The civic education is being held in all districts where teachers have come together at 134 sites to be trained until 12th January 2017. <\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Education has observed that the civic education is a good opportunity for self evaluation that will see  teachers  review their performance since 2008 when they participated in civic education sessions and develop new strategies to proper training of the children. <\/p>\n<p>The MINEDUC permanent secretary, Dr Ntivuguruzwa Celestin has said that teachers being the frontline soldiers in imparting discipline, their total appreciation of the same must be accentuated.  \u201cWe are thinking about achieving the targets entailed in vision 2050 as set  by Rwandans under the stewardship  President Paul Kagame.  We have decided to organize a civic education for all teachers so they can be trained on the guidelines to upholding moral values because what they teach would be useless in the absence of moral values,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want a teacher to understand our chosen vision, be trained on taboos and moral values of Rwandan culture so he\/she can in return offer the education to Rwanda\u2019s children, the future leaders. We want teachers to receive enough explanations on the country\u2019s vision and his\/her role to reach it,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p>Such a civic education is being held for the second time.
