{"id":3143,"date":"2012-09-11T15:24:01","date_gmt":"2012-09-11T15:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/kagame-speaks-at-world-economic-forum-in-tianjin\/"},"modified":"2012-09-11T15:29:23","modified_gmt":"2012-09-11T15:29:23","slug":"kagame-speaks-at-world-economic-forum-in-tianjin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/kagame-speaks-at-world-economic-forum-in-tianjin\/","title":{"rendered":"Kagame Speaks at World Economic Forum in Tianjin"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-1650 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/vvff.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>{{Held under the theme \u2018Creating Future Economy\u2019, China&#8217;s Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao opened The World Economic Forum and explained China&#8217;s accomplishments over the past decades.}} <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter years of hard work we have laid a sustainable base for growth, improved infrastructure and built sound institutional framework. <\/p>\n<p>We have cut poverty by half ahead of 2015, 100&#8217;s of millions of Chinese family have experienced tremendous changes in last few years and Chinese people have changed their life through hard work and perseverance.\u201d The Premier added. <\/p>\n<p>President Paul Kagame addressed the topic of competitiveness alongside the Chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), HuangMengfu, State Secretary for Economic Affairs of Switzerland, Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch;<\/p>\n<p> Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Mustapa Mohamed and Prime Minister of Denmark Helle Thorning-Schmidt.<\/p>\n<p>President Kagame shared with the participants his vision for competitiveness. \u201cCompetitiveness is built for the purpose of having an impact on people&#8217;s lives. <\/p>\n<p>It builds on how leadership and the people interact. It is the responsibility of leaders to create a level playing field that allows people to unleash their maximum potential.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about Rwanda&#8217;s approach to regional competitiveness, President Kagame explained that joining the East African Community allowed for increased competition. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt makes it easier to build infrastructure that serves the entire region and resolves common challenges,\u201d President Kagame said.<\/p>\n<p>The session was concluded with a question to all participants on the prospects of improvement in competitiveness ranking for each of their nations. <\/p>\n<p>On the prospects for Africa, President Kagame concluded by reminding the audience that many African nations have been working on their competitiveness. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfrica has a chance, if Rwanda did it, many countries can do it better. Rwanda moved up 7 places.
