{One passenger traveling in a canoe on Lake Kivu has died and five rescued and an unidentified number missing when a canoe they were oaring from Kagano sector to Nyabitekeri sector in Nyamasheke district, Western province capsized. }<\/p>\n
Eye witnesses have told IGIHE that the canoe carried 18 passengers coming from Rwesero market in Kagano sector and capsized when it encountered a storm as it rained. <\/p>\n
Rescuers have announced to have saved five passengers alive but a pregnant mother\u2019s body was retrieved but others have since gone missing. <\/p>\n
The executive secretary of Kagano sector, Munyankindi Eloi has said that they have not yet identified the number of missing passengers. <\/p>\n
The passengers rescued have been taken to Munyange Health Center.
