{"id":30749,"date":"2016-12-02T01:52:44","date_gmt":"2016-12-02T01:52:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/comoros-cape-verde-and-sao-tome-and-principe\/"},"modified":"2016-12-02T01:42:12","modified_gmt":"2016-12-02T01:42:12","slug":"comoros-cape-verde-and-sao-tome-and-principe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/comoros-cape-verde-and-sao-tome-and-principe\/","title":{"rendered":"Comoros, Cape Verde and Sao Tome and Principe officials pick interest in Isange model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{A delegation of ten officials from Comoros, Cape Verde and Sao Tome and Principe visited Isange One Stop Centre on December 1 where they expressed in imitating Rwanda\u2019s holistic model in responding to Gender Based Violence and Child Abuse.} <\/p>\n<p>The interest is also in line with the recent decision by the Africa Convention of Women in Security Organs that recommended all signatories of the Kigali International Conference Declaration (KICD) to adopt the Rwandan model of fighting against GBV and child abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Their visit is aimed at learning how health policies are implemented in Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>The officials emphasised that to achieve equitable social and economic development, countries that are facing high rates of GBV and child abuse should imitate the Isange one Stop Center.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve this, they said, there should be political will and commitment to end the vice. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are impressed with the level of political will and the commitment of Rwanda and the staff here in helping victims\u201d said Toma Valdez president of Cape Verde\u2019s Institute of Health after touring the facility.<\/p>\n<p>The visiting delegation hailed the Rwanda National Police (RNP) for their engagement and how the force engages the general public in fighting abuse in social related matters. <\/p>\n<p>At the centre, they were received by the coordinator of Isange One Stop Centres, Superintendent of Police (SP) who detailed how the concept of Isange came up saying that it was born to bring together services that were previously scattered, costly and inconveniencing to the victims of GBV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a multidisciplinary and holistic approach that binds various institutions responsible for fighting and preventing GBV including the ministries of Gender and family Promotion, Health and Justice,\u201d said Supt. Murebwayire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have doctors, psychologists, social workers, judicial police officers and this helps a victim to acquire all the necessary services in one place and free of charge,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere necessary, we accompany the victims back to their homes to make sure that they are fully reintegrated in their families because some of them sometimes feel rejected. We work with various entities on grassroots to ensure that they are fully rehabilitated,\u201d Supt.
