{About 300 hundreds youth in Musanze District, majority students currently in their holidays, recently, joined the Rwanda National Police (RNP) efforts in a walk to raise the voice against drug abuse.}<\/p>\n
The one-kilometre walk also brought together security organs and local leaders to raise the awareness against the vice, committed especially by the majority youth.<\/p>\n
While addressing the youth at Musanze Integrated Polytechnic College, where the walk ended, the District Police Commander, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Jean Claude Kabandana, urged them to be the igniting force against the vice.<\/p>\n
He noted that the young people are the most ravaged with the vice, but reiterated that they as well hold the biggest part in fighting it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is one thing to have the ability but do nothing. You should translate that ability into action. Actions build societies and the country and that\u2019s what your country expects from you,\u201d CIP Kabandana said.<\/p>\n
He urged them to be police agents in their communities by reporting people suspected of dealing in drugs and be an eye for the safety of their societies.<\/p>\n
The vice mayor in charge of Social Affairs, Marie Claire Uwamariya said that development starts with people\u2019s mindset.<\/p>\n
\u201cFast and sustainable development is possible where there\u2019s partnership and collective approach against any obstacles including illicit drugs,\u201d Uwamariya said.<\/p>\n
She emphasized the need for share information with law enforcers and local administration for effective interventions.<\/p>\n
She also appealed to them to attach much value and focus on their studies, avoid negative peer groups and be the ear and eye in the implementation of development projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
