{"id":30504,"date":"2016-11-22T03:05:10","date_gmt":"2016-11-22T03:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwanda-elected-to-chair-resources-body\/"},"modified":"2017-02-28T19:21:58","modified_gmt":"2017-02-28T19:21:58","slug":"rwanda-elected-to-chair-resources-body","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwanda-elected-to-chair-resources-body\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda elected to chair resources body"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Rwanda has been elected to chair the Regional Center for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD), where it is represented by the Minister of Natural Resources, Dr Vincent Biruta.}<\/p>\n<p>The position has emerged from elections held during the 10th meeting of ministers of natural resources from East and Southern Africa countries in Kigali from 21st to 22nd November 2016.  <\/p>\n<p>The meeting aims at seeking to explore ways  of using technology in land management to promote economies, protect environment and effectively manage land in the region. <\/p>\n<p>Dr Biruta replaces Ethiopia\u2019s minister of Natural resources, Dr Yinager Desse Belay who led RCMRD since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The  meeting is held bi-annually during which the country to chair RCMRD is elected.<br \/>\nThe Director of Rwanda Natural Ressources Authority (RNRA),  Dr Emmanuel Nkurunziza has said that Rwanda joined  RCMRD in 2013 to partner with other countries in proper land management. <\/p>\n<p>\u201d Rwanda has a stand and I think we share a lot with people coming to our country which is seen through having the land of all citizens registered,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that these achievements add to having embraced electronic system of keeping files and facilitating people to identify  owner of a property using mobile phones. <\/p>\n<p>The World Bank\u2019s report on easing business indicated that Rwanda tops Africa and 4th globally in terms of land registration. <\/p>\n<p>RCMRD was established in 1975,  headquartered  in Nairobi, Kenya with  20  member states from Eastern Africa including;
