You, the representatives, are in good position to help your peers shun and prevent crimes. You interact with most of those in your age brackets, so you have to positively change them,” said the DPC.

He reminded them that Rwanda is where it is because of the youth who gave up everything to liberate the country and stop the Genocide, and challenged the new generation to sustain these achievements and work harder to take the country forward.

CIP Gisanga went to remind them that modern-day policing requires strong partnership, as well as mutual trust between law enforcers and residents, which are a necessity in building a longstanding foundation for community security.

“The involvement of citizens in crime prevention is essential to ensuring that Kamonyi is a vibrant and healthy district that places its highest priority on safety off all its citizens. Each individual’s commitment to participate in an organized community policing initiative does indeed make an impact…we therefore encourage you to take a lead in this course,” he said.

The youth committed to using the acquired skills to prevent crimes in their respective communities.

“We learn a lot from every sing meeting we hold with officers of Rwanda National Police… we have learnt how to prevent crime through information sharing and how to effectively prevent a crime from occurring. I am positive we will make an impact in our communities,” said Thassien Kirezi, a RYVCP member.

Currently there are close to over 51,500 members of RYVCP countrywide. RYVCP’s ambition is to have a million members by the end of next year.

{Representatives Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP) from Kamonyi District have been urged to be champions of crime prevention particularly fighting drug abuse among their peers and their families.} The call was made by the District Police Commanders (DPC) Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Ndahimana Gisanga during his recent crime prevention meeting with 32 […]

[6
75
550

post-30277","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-homenews","byline-police
["GET
