{Seventy-five victims of domestic and sexual violence in Ruhango district have unequivocally decided to undertake the fight against gender and sexual violence.}<\/p>\n
The commitment was made recently during a capacity building meeting with police and local leaders in the district. The meeting was facilitated by Rwanda National Police in conjunction with the Catholic Church community in the district.<\/p>\n
Announcing the commitment, Prisca Mukanyandwi said they don\u2019t wish anyone to go through the agony they went through. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe shall fight against gender and domestic violence of whichever sort and magnitude; we can\u2019t allow people to continue suffering,\u201d said Mukanyandwi.<\/p>\n
She also thanked Rwanda National Police for its continued efforts towards preventing and fighting GBV cases. <\/p>\n
\u201cBesides our commitment to fighting GBV, we are also going to revamp our anti-crime club and contribute to crime prevention through enhanced information sharing,\u201d Mukanyandwi added. <\/p>\n
During the meeting, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) Inspector of Police (IP) Angelique Abijuru, commended the initiative and pledged RNP\u2019s support to the clubs.<\/p>\n
She said the police is proud of the initiative adding that the group knew better than anyone, the pain of gender and domestic violence.<\/p>\n
In line with community policing, IP Abijuru urged members to share crime related information with the police at all times. <\/p>\n
Leaders of the anti-crime clubs were given skills in people management leadership skills and values.<\/p>\n
