{"id":30163,"date":"2016-11-09T09:34:48","date_gmt":"2016-11-09T09:34:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwanda-embarks-on-listing-genocide-memorials-with\/"},"modified":"2017-02-28T19:10:12","modified_gmt":"2017-02-28T19:10:12","slug":"rwanda-embarks-on-listing-genocide-memorials-with","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwanda-embarks-on-listing-genocide-memorials-with\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda embarks on listing genocide memorials with World Heritage sites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The government of Rwanda targets to fulfill requirements to register four genocide memorial sites to list of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites by 2018. } <\/p>\n<p>Assessment of requirements to register the memorial sites is being undertaken during a two-day meeting being held in Rwanda bringing together stakeholders in fighting  genocide drawing participants from the International Council of Monuments and Sites, African World Heritage Fund, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, lecturers and researchers. <\/p>\n<p>The said sites are Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre in Gisozi, Ntarama Genocide Memorial site in Bugesera District, Murambi memorial centre in Nyamagabe District, and Bisesero Genocide Memorial site in Karongi District.<\/p>\n<p>The executive secretary of CNLG, Dr Jean Damasc\u00e8ne Bizimana explained that they are required to demonstrate uniqueness making the memorial sites worth World Heritage listing.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many requirements to meet.
