{"id":30031,"date":"2016-11-05T02:32:15","date_gmt":"2016-11-05T02:32:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/first-lady-cautions-leaders-against\/"},"modified":"2017-02-28T19:05:25","modified_gmt":"2017-02-28T19:05:25","slug":"first-lady-cautions-leaders-against","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/first-lady-cautions-leaders-against\/","title":{"rendered":"First Lady cautions leaders against discrimination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{First Lady Jeannette Kagame has called on leaders to resist whoever intends to spread hatred and discrimination ideologies among Rwandans.  }<\/p>\n<p>She made the call yesterday during the second day of the 9th annual forum of Unity Club Intwararumuri.<\/p>\n<p>Chaired by Madam Jeannette Kagame, Unity Club Intwararumuri was established in 1996 to contribute to the promotion of unity and peace as a pillar of sustainable development. The club is comprised of current and former government leaders with their spouses. <\/p>\n<p>During the launch , Madam Jeannette Kagame  awarded 17 (protectors of social pacts) &#8220;Abarinzi b\u2019Igihango&#8221; selected from national level including Karamaga Thadee who hid the dead body of the former prime minister ,Agathe Uwiringiyimana.<\/p>\n<p>Madam Jeannette Kagame  talked of bad leadership of former leaders who worked against  Rwanda\u2019s unity and reminded them to consider the unity of Rwandans inherited from Gihanga (The monarch thought to have created Rwanda) promoting equal freedom  among Rwandans sharing common responsibilities and rights. <\/p>\n<p>She  requested leaders to consolidate  current achievements and sustain improvements in people\u2019s  welfare, resisting whoever intends to take  back Rwandans to the tragic history of yesteryears.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s be delighted with our commendable achievements. Let us resist whoever wants to convince us that our livelihoods will improve if we accept discrimination again,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The 9th forum has been held at a time when Unity club Intwararumuri is celebrating  20 years of existence facilitating Rwandans to live in harmony following the 1994 genocide against Tutsi. <\/p>\n<p>Madam Jeannette Kagame has called on leaders that more needs to be done though the country has achieved a lot in unity and reconciliation.  <\/p>\n<p> \u201cIn Rwanda, truth is one of the pillars upon which our unity is rooted. That truth should push us to contemplate that we still have a long journey in building sustainable unity among Rwandans.
