{The family of King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa has announced that the latter\u2019s body will be buried in Rwanda in Nyanza district where he was crowned king, a direct contradiction of what the late spokesperson, Boniface Benzige, recently told Voice of America that the late king\u2019s last testament shunned Rwanda burial. Besides, the burial date of the late king has, too, not been fixed. }<\/p>\n

In a statement signed in Washington, United States, the family of King Kigeli V has lauded all countries which accommodated the King when he fled Rwanda. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe family of King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa Jean Baptiste informs Rwandans, friends and relatives that the body of the late King will be buried in his native country in Mwima of Nyanza where he was crowned the king and receive last tributes of Rwandans he loved. Dates and ceremonies of paying last tributes will be announced soon,\u201d reads part of the statement.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the spokesperson of King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa, Boniface Benzige said that the late King willed not to be buried in Rwanda if he did not return to his country as a living King.<\/p>\n

Talking to Voice of America Radio, Boniface Benzige said that King Kigeli V will not be buried in Rwanda, following his will.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe won\u2019t bury the King in Rwanda even though the country may want it. As the spokesperson of the King, I have to respect the King\u2019s will. Indeed, the culture and laws of the state respect the last word of a person before death,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot accept current wishes as they are different from the late King\u2019s.\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

On 26th October, a delegation of nine relatives from King Kigeli V with Pastor Mpyisi Ezra who was a palace loyal arrived in America for negotiations on the burial arrangements.<\/p>\n

The government of Rwanda had promised to provide assistance in the final funeral arrangements.<\/p>\n

Kigeli V reigned from 28th July, 1959 until he was removed from power on 28th January 1961. He died at the age of 80 on 16th October 2016 in Oakton city of Virginia in the United States.<\/p>\n
