{The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Dan Munyuza has challenged the South Sudan-bound contingent to look out and support each other, and stay focused to the needs and execution of the mission mandate.}<\/p>\n
He noted that selecting and sending them to provide security and ensure safety and peace in a foreign country \u201cspeaks volume\u201d to the sending institution and country in general, which they should always stand for.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Police Chief made the remarks on November 3 at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru where he briefed 240 police officers organized under Rwanda Formed Police Unit Two (RWAFPU2) set to be deployed under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).<\/p>\n
The contingent headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Eric Mutsinzi as its contingent commander includes 45 females is set to be deployed this Friday.<\/p>\n
They will replace RWAFPU1 of 240 officers which will also return home this week after a year of service.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have been trained and equipped with skills required for service excellence and it\u2019s now time to step in the footsteps of those you are replacing and apply those abilities for the good of people of South Sudan,\u201d DIGP Munyuza said.<\/p>\n
While urging them to understand the nature of mission environment, he noted that pre-deployment and engagement planning will guide them to successful operations.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou should be mentally and physically stable and maintain the team spirit while working with other peacekeeping forces to protect and ensure safety of the endangered communities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He urged them to build on the legacy set forth by the maiden contingent they will replace, preserve the values of respect, discipline, cleanliness and sacrifice, which are integral parts of professionalism.<\/p>\n
\u201cBad characters paint a negative image on the entire unit, Rwanda National Police and the country in general and that\u2019s a luxury that shouldn\u2019t be entertained.\u201d<\/p>\n
He noted that \u201cleadership by example\u201d is a guiding tool for effectiveness and discipline.<\/p>\n
