{The National Coordinator for Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP), Justus Kangwagye has urged youth volunteers from Kibogora Polytechnic in Nyamasheke District, to be champions of public safety as a major pillar to development.}<\/p>\n
He made the call on November 2 during a meeting that was also attended by Eugene Rwibasira, the head of the Pan-African Movement in Rwanda.<\/p>\n
\u201cPublic safety is interlinked with good governance, security and development; as people whose ambition is to take Rwanda to a higher level, you must be the champions in ensuring sustainable security and development,\u201d said Kangwagye.<\/p>\n
He added that Rwanda is globally recognized as one of the safest countries in the world but added that \u201cwe can\u2019t settle for being just good, we have to work harder and be the best.\u201d<\/p>\n
To achieve that, he noted, the young generation need to be fully committed to enhancing public safety and human security.<\/p>\n
He noted that one of the ways youth volunteers can contribute to sustainable security and development is by standing up against misappropriation and embezzlement of public funds.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvest much of your efforts in standing up against anyone who violates the law and take part in government developmental activities,\u201d said Kangwagye.<\/p>\n
In his address to the youth, Rwibasira rooted for patriotism saying that \u201cwhen you have your country at heart, you will strive for the very best.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTo sustain what has been achieved should start with loving it and having the desire to hold on to it,\u201d Rwibasira said.<\/p>\n
Currently there are over 51, 500 members of RYVCP countrywide, with at least 1600 in Nyamasheke. The organization targets to have one million members by the end of next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
