{"id":29914,"date":"2016-11-01T03:58:27","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T03:58:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/ignorance-hinders-malnutrition-stunted-growth\/"},"modified":"2016-11-01T03:58:21","modified_gmt":"2016-11-01T03:58:21","slug":"ignorance-hinders-malnutrition-stunted-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/ignorance-hinders-malnutrition-stunted-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"Ignorance hinders malnutrition, stunted growth eradication -Minister Gashumba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The Minister of Health, Dr Gashumba Diane has said that some regions have children under five years suffering stunted growth and malnutrition not because of food shortage but rather due to ignorance on proper feeding regimes. }<\/p>\n<p>She revealed this during the launch of the \u2018Learning Route Exchange Program\u2019 that  showcases  Rwanda\u2019s priorities in eradicating malnutrition.  <\/p>\n<p>The event is being held in collaboration with Scale Up Nutrition ( SUN) Alliance Rwanda and Civil society. <\/p>\n<p> \u201cParents have inadequate knowledge on the proper quantities and quality of food they are supposed to serve their children. There is also the problem of hygiene. Balanced diet with the absence of hygiene would be useless in controlling diseases,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>Minister Gashumba explained that they are collaborating with local leaders to help mothers understand preparation of balanced diet as a foundation for sustainable child development. <\/p>\n<p>Butera John R. Mugabe, Chairman of SUN Alliance Rwanda said that children\u2019s stunted growth  is not seen in starving children only but even children with enough  food grow improperly. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough there is a problem of poverty, you know that almost 80% of Rwandans have food sufficiency.
