{"id":29361,"date":"2016-10-12T10:28:26","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T10:28:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/drc-soldier-held-in-rwanda-returned-back-home\/"},"modified":"2016-10-14T05:33:49","modified_gmt":"2016-10-14T05:33:49","slug":"drc-soldier-held-in-rwanda-returned-back-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/drc-soldier-held-in-rwanda-returned-back-home\/","title":{"rendered":"DRC soldier held in Rwanda returned back home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{A Democratic Republic of Congo soldier, 2nd Lt Banango Bukware who was captured  intruding on  Rwandan land has been handed over back to his home country today in Rubavu district. }<\/p>\n<p>Banango Bukware was caught on Sunday night in Kanyesheja in Busasamana sector of Rubavu district. <\/p>\n<p>Talking to IGIHE, Banango Bukware has revealed that he was caught on Sunday night when he unintentionally crossed the border and walked through Rwanda\u2019s land after meeting his commanders.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201c I returned late at night  and forgot that I had crossed  the border . I had walked five meters beyond the frontier. I had no bad intentions but the problem was failure to identify the border line\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>He explained that he was well treated during the four days of he was  in Rwanda. <\/p>\n<p>Lt Col Cassius James who represented Rwanda  while handing Banango over  to DRC has said that the soldier was illegally on Rwanda\u2019s territory in the night  after wandering  from the border with a gun and ammunition. <\/p>\n<p> \u201cThis soldier was held on Rwanda\u2019s territory and failed to identify where he was walking to in the dark.  We seized him with AKM 47 gun number 4340 with two magazines of 40 bullets. We held the soldier waiting to hand him to the Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM) as we have good collaboration,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Col Fulbert OKANDZA representing, EJVM has lauded the act of handing back the soldier describing it as an indication of good cooperation with Rwanda military. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis happens often for Congo soldiers failing to identify the border.
