{Fifteen police officers, on October 10, started a four-day training on \u2018combating international drug trafficking\u2019 as part of the Rwanda National Police (RNP) effort to confront the emerging security threats particularly trade in illicit drugs.}<\/p>\n
The training facilitated by experts from the Federal Criminal Police Office of German (BKA) seeks to introduce the officers to the status of drug trafficking on the global scene, challenges and criminal procedures.<\/p>\n
Participants include those attached to anti-narcotics, CID, counter terror , airport security and Interpol.<\/p>\n
It will also look at the types of illicit drugs, countries of origin, main routes, basic principles to establish evidence including crime scene management and evidence collection, searching techniques, communication interception, assets recovery, witness protection and global police cooperation in fighting narcotic drugs.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the official opening of the course at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, commissioner for training, Commissioner of Police (CP) Vianney Nshimiyimana, who commended the existing partnership between RNP and German, noted that such skills are required to stay ahead of criminals.<\/p>\n
\u201cDrug trafficking is a global threat that requires knowledge, skills and cooperation to address it collectively and effectively, and this training comes to serve the purpose,\u201d CP Nshimiyimana said.<\/p>\n
He urged the trainees to take the training seriously to help them and the institution in general, to detect, fight and prevent drug trafficking. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
