{The District Police Unit (DPU) of Kamonyi, over the weekend intensified its community policing and anti-crime awareness activities in schools as the sensitization campaign was conducted in at least eleven schools on Saturday with emphasis on upholding the national values. } <\/p>\n
The schools include ISETAR, APPEC, ECOSSE Musambira, ASPEKA, Sainte Bernadette, Remera Rukoma, Kigusa, Karama, Rutobwe, Marie Adelaide and Mugira vocational school.<\/p>\n
While addressing the students of Remera Rukomo, the district mayor, Aimable Udahemuka pointed out patriotism and integrity, as some of the values of Ndi Umunyarwanda that binds all Rwandans to strive for the best of their country, including fighting and preventing crimes.<\/p>\n
\u201cNdi Umunyarwanda means refraining and fighting any negative ideologies, living exemplary and being the advocates of safety, security, peace and development,\u201d Udahemuka told the students.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi was a result of bad politics which sowed hatred and discrimination. Being patriotic means valuing the life and wellbeing of others; you are the face and voice to ignite the new Rwanda and policing agents wherever you are or live,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
At Groupe Scolaire Rwunge, the District Police Commander (DPC), Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Ndahimana Gisanga reminded the students to guard against drug trafficking and abuse by reporting anyone involved.<\/p>\n
