{"id":29153,"date":"2016-10-05T02:52:10","date_gmt":"2016-10-05T02:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/court-bailiffs-tasked-on-efficiency-and-integrity\/"},"modified":"2016-10-06T10:10:51","modified_gmt":"2016-10-06T10:10:51","slug":"court-bailiffs-tasked-on-efficiency-and-integrity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/court-bailiffs-tasked-on-efficiency-and-integrity\/","title":{"rendered":"Court bailiffs tasked on efficiency and integrity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The Minister of Justice, Johnston Busingye has requested professional and non professional court bailiffs to work efficiently with integrity and conscience by respecting laws. }<\/p>\n<p>Minister Busingye made the call yesterday as he presided over the swearing in ceremony of 150 professional and non professional court bailiffs along with 5 notaries.<\/p>\n<p>He reminded them that a citizen is assured of fair justice when    his\/her court case is finalized. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou, professional or non professional court bailiffs are required to help the government to attain envisaged objective and acquire advanced integrity and respect laws,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n<p>He asked professional court bailiffs to be keen on their profession and value the finalization of court cases putting much attention on outcomes of their work other than the award. <\/p>\n<p>The law stipulates that a professional court bailiff has to be awarded an amount which doesn\u2019t go beyond Rwf 500,000 which the president of association of court bailiffs, Habimana Vedaste said is inadequate compared to challenges faced in their work. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis award is insufficient since it disregards hard work of professional bailiffs and can hinder the performance depending on the gravity of the court case,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Non professional bailiffs have also been asked to avoid receiving any award for finalizing a case since it is considered as corruption. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNon professional court bailiffs should not receive any award since what they do is their usual work,\u201d said Yankurije Odette, the Head of Access to Justice Services Department at the Ministry of Justice. <\/p>\n<p>Today, the Ministry of Justice has over 400 registered professional court bailiffs and 2627 non professional court bailiffs including 30 district executive secretaries,416 sector executive secretaries, 2,147 cell executive secretaries ,3 court bailiffs from MINIJUST, 1 court bailiff at the ombudsman\u2019s office and 30 others from MAJ among others from prisons and others granted the rights of executing the task by laws guiding institutions within which they operate. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-15484 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/img_0236.jpg\" alt=\"The Minister of Justice, Johnston Busingye \" \/><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-15485 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/lemigo.jpg\" alt=\"Sworn in court bailiffs \" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{The Minister of Justice, Johnston Busingye has requested professional and non professional court bailiffs to work efficiently with integrity and conscience by respecting laws. } Minister Busingye made the call yesterday as he presided over the swearing in ceremony of 150 professional and non professional court bailiffs along with 5 notaries.
