{"id":29088,"date":"2016-10-03T01:44:31","date_gmt":"2016-10-03T01:44:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/gicumbi-police-impounds-car-loaded-with-illicit\/"},"modified":"2016-10-03T06:36:59","modified_gmt":"2016-10-03T06:36:59","slug":"gicumbi-police-impounds-car-loaded-with-illicit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/gicumbi-police-impounds-car-loaded-with-illicit\/","title":{"rendered":"Police impounds illicit gin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Police in Gicumbi District have intercepted and impounded a vehicle that was carrying 410 liters of Kanyanga and 40 cartons of Chief Waragi, both banned gin in Rwanda.<br \/>\nThe vehicle Toyota Carina with number plate RAA397, was intercepted on last Saturday at about 23:45pm in Byumba Sector along Gatuna-Kigali highway.}<\/p>\n<p>The illicit gin classified as narcotic drugs in Rwanda, were stuffed in the boot of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police (SP) Steven Gaga, said: \u201cWe received information from residents about the car that is loaded with illicit substances; we immediately acted on the information, mounted an operation but the traffickers ran away leaving the vehicle and the contraband behind,\u201d said SP Gaga.<br \/>\nHe said Police is still searching for the suspects.<\/p>\n<p>He thanked residents for their continued cooperation in reporting those involved in drug trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fight against drug abuse requires strong partnership at all levels because when everyone acts responsibly and owns this fight, drug dealers will have no room for their illegal business and even whoever tries will be arrested,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to outline effects of drug consumption saying that, \u201csuch substances can have enormous effect on health, brain damage and behavioral problems like paranoia, aggressiveness, hallucinations, addiction, impaired judgment, impulsiveness and loss of self-control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are effects to the consumer but the effects can go as far as affecting families, communities and the country.
