{A total of 223 police officers, on October 1, completed the seventh intake of special intervention course at the Counter-Terrorism Training Centre Mayange in Bugesera District.}<\/p>\n
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Emmanuel K. Gasana presided over the pass-out with a call for \u201cprofessional conduct and mission clarity.\u201d<\/p>\n
It was also attended by Deputy IGPs; Dan Munyuza of Operations and Juvenal Marizamunda of Administration and Personnel, and other senior police officers.<\/p>\n
IGP Gasana noted that the 16-week skills and tactics course is a \u201cvalue addition to professional policing\u201d and appealed to the officers to always stay focused to their assignment.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour overall responsibility is to ensure and preserve security, and this requires understanding and defining your operations and maintaining service excellence,\u201d the Police Chief said.<\/p>\n
He highlighted clarity of the mission, professional conduct, self-discipline and upholding the police values as key to good performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have acquired special skills to enhance policing in the wake of emerging crimes like terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n
He noted that training and skills development are continuous, source of professionalism and a solution to emerging policing challenges.<\/p>\n
The special intervention course in police operations and public order management focused on techniques and tactics of special police operations, martial arts, hygiene and sanitation, skills at arm and map reading, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
