{"id":29010,"date":"2016-09-29T06:03:27","date_gmt":"2016-09-29T06:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/pac-queries-gisagara-on-mismanagement-of\/"},"modified":"2017-02-28T18:18:42","modified_gmt":"2017-02-28T18:18:42","slug":"pac-queries-gisagara-on-mismanagement-of","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/pac-queries-gisagara-on-mismanagement-of\/","title":{"rendered":"PAC queries Gisagara on mismanagement of resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Gisagara district has committed to correcting mistakes identified in the 2014\/2015 Auditor General (AG) report following yesterday\u2019s queries from Parliamentary Public Accountant Committee (PAC). }<\/p>\n<p>Gisagara district officials were called before PAC to answer audit queries raised in the Auditor General\u2019s report that cited mismanagement related issues. <\/p>\n<p>The district also failed to respect the notion and principle of gender equality and complementarily as the whole delegation representing the district yesterday was comprised of men only.    <\/p>\n<p>The district was represented by Uwimana Innocent, the president of Gisagara district advisory committee; Gisagara district mayor, Rutaburingoga J\u00e9r\u00f4me and Mvukiyehe Innocent, the executive secretary. <\/p>\n<p>In the report, the AG cited the district\u2019s failure in recovering VUP funds worth over Rwf 150 million from beneficiaries.  <\/p>\n<p>The vice president of PAC, Honourable Theoneste Karenzi told delegates that it is their responsibility to create awareness among citizens on the usage of the fund a mistake which Mvukiyehe Innocent accepted and promised to address. <\/p>\n<p>Other audit shortcomings included poor financial record management, poor budgeting among others.The district, for example, built a playground worth Rwf 14 million but later decided  to construct a building worth Rwf 500 million at the particular ground, causing a financial loss. <\/p>\n<p>Responding to the audit queries, the Gisagara mayor, Rutaburingoga J\u00e9r\u00f4me said; \u201cThere is no other alternative except apologizing and committing to correct the mistakes realized. The worst thing would be repeating such faults. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to correct what went wrong.
