James Rutaremara has called upon the residents to embrace and support ongoing awareness and initiatives in fighting against malaria.}<\/p>\n<p>The DPC said that malaria if not combated, can be disastrous and a security issue adding that implementing all identified measures should be the responsibility of every household and individuals in particular.<\/p>\n<p>He made the call on September 19, in Nyabikokora cell of Kirehe Sector, where he addressed over 1500 residents from Kirehe and Kigina sectors.<\/p>\n<p>This was part of the ongoing initiative to spray anti-malaria drugs in houses in Kirehe.<\/p>\n<p>Rwanda National Police is a partner in fighting malaria in the country and has been holding awareness campaigns against one of the leading causes of death in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMalaria is not only a health problem, it is also a development problem and a security concern that results into death, disabilities on both short and long-term; it has enormous social and economic costs which as well keeps households in poverty, which is also another human security issue,\u201d said Supt. Rutaremara.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn unhealthy society is an insecure one,\u201d he said, urging them to embrace and support the in-house spraying campaign and clear bushes around the households that could be breading grounds for mosquitoes.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the DPC warned the residents against turning given mosquito nets into fencing materials, fishing nets and curtains, adding that this is impeding government human security programmes and promoting malaria infections.<\/p>\n<p>On crime prevention, he urged residents to collaborate with police and other security organs through timely information sharing on any illegal doing, especially drug dealers, the major crime in Kirehe.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-15127 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/png\/police-4.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{The District Police Commander (DPC) of Kirehe, Supt.
