Kagame urges on using broadband for development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{President Paul Kagame has said t hat the internet broadband will not solve all problems of the world but can fast-track activities to overcome current obstacles.}<\/p>\n<p>He noted this yesterday as he presided over a meeting of the commission of the internet broadband for sustainable development held in New York where the 71st United Nations general assembly is held. <\/p>\n<p>The meeting discussed obstacles in investment and maximizing benefits of technology in the World\u2019s goals.<\/p>\n<p>It also sought ways how to expand internet broadband without leaving any country behind and seeking internet broadband can contribute to Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n<p>President Paul Kagame requested developing countries to work hard and efficiently to attain envisaged transformations rooted on technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBroader goals envisaged by the world offer opportunities of looking far to seek how to create innovations, transform livelihoods and economy after connecting people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBroadband cannot solve all problems but can help in moving fast activities to overcome challenges affecting the World\u2019s progress,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The General Secretary of ITU, Haolin Zhao has asked countries to avoid the inequality in the use of technology where women are left behind. <\/p>\n<p>The commission of the internet broadband declares to have potential of contributing to implementing Sustainable Development Goals though ITU demonstrates rampant obstacles since only 3.5 billion World\u2019s population will be using internet by the end of 2016 leaving 3.9 billion others without access to internet. <\/p>\n<p>Internet use reached 38% of world\u2019s households in 2015 and stands at 41% today.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-15077 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/09-23.jpg\" alt=\"\"
