{"id":28396,"date":"2016-09-07T06:07:05","date_gmt":"2016-09-07T06:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/hospital-detains-crocodile-victim-over-unpaid\/"},"modified":"2016-09-07T06:08:16","modified_gmt":"2016-09-07T06:08:16","slug":"hospital-detains-crocodile-victim-over-unpaid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/hospital-detains-crocodile-victim-over-unpaid\/","title":{"rendered":"Hospital detains crocodile victim over unpaid medical bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{St Francis Hospital, Nsambya is a holding a 17-year-old fishmonger, John Basalirwa, a resident of Kayunga over unpaid medical bills.}<\/p>\n<p>St Francis Hospital, Nsambya is a holding a 17-year-old fishmonger, John Basalirwa, a resident of Kayunga over unpaid medical bills.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, currently held in the St Patrick surgical ward was attacked by a crocodile on August 4 during a fishing session.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Basalirwa then lost his right arm to the jaws of a crocodile at Bulwa fishing grounds in Buyikwe district.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital now demands that Basalirwa pays medical bills amounting to Shs4.3m before he can be discharged.<\/p>\n<p>However the victim\u2019s family is unable to raise the money. His 90year old father Eliyaphe Kavuma, a father of 10 and resident of Kitwe-Kayunga is unemployed thus lacks means to pay the medical bills.<\/p>\n<p>The victim\u2019s mother, a 60 year housewife also has no source of income.<\/p>\n<p>His elder siblings David Kalyango and Bogere also work as fishmongers at Bulwa fishing grounds in order to make ends meet and can therefore not afford the medical bills.<\/p>\n<p>Similar incident<br \/>\nBasalirwa is not the first to be held over failure to clear medical bills.
