{"id":28130,"date":"2016-08-29T01:07:33","date_gmt":"2016-08-29T01:07:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/heads-of-ncbs-meet-in-kigali-ahead-of-eapcco-agm\/"},"modified":"2016-08-29T01:07:14","modified_gmt":"2016-08-29T01:07:14","slug":"heads-of-ncbs-meet-in-kigali-ahead-of-eapcco-agm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/heads-of-ncbs-meet-in-kigali-ahead-of-eapcco-agm\/","title":{"rendered":"Heads of NCBs meet in Kigali ahead of EAPCCO AGM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The 13th meeting of Heads of Interpol National Central Bureaus (NCB) commenced in Kigali yesterday ahead of the 18th the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs\u2019 Cooperation Organization Annual General Meeting (EAPPCO-AGM) scheduled to begin on August 31.}<\/p>\n<p>The subcommittee of the heads of NCBs saw technocrats from nine countries (Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya Tanzania, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan Uganda and Rwanda) sharing information, exchanged ideas and best practices and updated on the latest wave of activities and new resources at the disposal in the fight against emerging security threats.<\/p>\n<p>It is among several other subcommittees that will be held prior to the general meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese meetings are a reminder that we are at the forefront against transnational organised crimes which pose a significant and growing threat to national, regional and international security with serious implications for public safety, public health and economic stability,\u201d Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Tony Kulamba, Commissioner for Interpol and Cooperation at Rwanda National Police, said during the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>He further noted that \u201cdeepening cooperation and quick response to each other\u2019s request is the only message to criminals that there is no hiding place for them anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 13th EAPCCO Heads of NCBs meeting is another great opportunity for us to interact and share contact details and enhance friendship and mutual support as we pursue our common goal of a safer region and safer world,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Assistant Director National Central Bureau Coordination for Africa, Precious Tlhabiwa said such meetings provide a platform for interaction and professional networking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOften times we wish we could sit together and discuss ways and means we could adopt to solve some of challenges we face in enforcing the law, this provides exactly the right environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sothenes Makuri, the acting head of the Regional Bureau, said: \u201cOur region continues to face many challenges that require enactment of proper strategies. Terrorism, trafficking in human beings, trafficking in narcotic drugs, wildlife crimes, cybercrimes, proliferation of small arms and light weapons are some of these challenges.
