{"id":28000,"date":"2016-08-24T02:02:34","date_gmt":"2016-08-24T02:02:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/businessman-shot-in-attempted-robbery-on-uhuru\/"},"modified":"2016-08-24T02:05:26","modified_gmt":"2016-08-24T02:05:26","slug":"businessman-shot-in-attempted-robbery-on-uhuru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/businessman-shot-in-attempted-robbery-on-uhuru\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya:Businessman shot in attempted robbery on Uhuru Highway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The gunman demanded to be given money.}<\/p>\n<p>A businessman is admitted to MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi after he was shot in a robbery attempt on Uhuru Highway.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Jitendra Chevda, 49, was driving his car at 6.30 p.m Tuesday when he was attacked by a lone gunman.<\/p>\n<p>The gunman demanded to be given money.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe refused to give money and was shot on the lower abdomen,\u201d a police report stated.<\/p>\n<p>He was rushed to Nairobi West Hospital and later transferred to MP Shah Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Crime scene investigators recovered a spent cartridge and a bullet head from the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Four people, who were in the vehicle during the incident, are assisting police with investigations.<\/p>\n<p>In another incident, a man was hacked to death by gangsters at Mukuru Kayaba slums on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Aggrey Ouma was declared dead at Kenyatta National Hospital where he was rushed for treatment after the 9 p.m incident .<\/p>\n<p>He was walking home in the company of Mr Mark Omondi when two gangsters, armed with pangas, confronted them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were ordered to stop but they started running away. The gangsters pursued them. Omondi managed to escape with minor injuries on the left ear,\u201d according to a police report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe later returned with relatives and found Aggrey with injuries on the forehead,&#8221; the report stated.<\/p>\n<p>In yet another incident a nine-year-old boy was electrocuted in Kiambiu slums in Nairobi.<\/p>\n<p>The boy touched a naked electric wire near their home.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-14484 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/uhuruhigh.jpg\" alt=\"A picture of Uhuru Highway in Nairobi taken on March 2, 2016.
