{"id":27667,"date":"2016-08-12T03:27:09","date_gmt":"2016-08-12T03:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/cid-services-taken-over-by-new-bureau\/"},"modified":"2016-08-15T06:38:54","modified_gmt":"2016-08-15T06:38:54","slug":"cid-services-taken-over-by-new-bureau","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/cid-services-taken-over-by-new-bureau\/","title":{"rendered":"CID services taken over by new bureau"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{A cabinet meeting that sat this week has confirmed the reforms in security system of the country with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), formerly under the Rwanda National Police (RNP), transferred to a new body, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB).}<\/p>\n<p>In a press briefing held yesterday conducted by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Justice, it was also revealed that a Rwanda Law Enforcement School aimed at professionally training police personnel has been established.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Internal Security, Sheikh Musa Fadhil Harelimana said \u201cRIB was operating as CID in police and has to been merged with Crime Intelligence to form one body controlled by the Ministry of Justice. The investigation department was monitored by prosecution while the Ministry of Justice could order the prosecution to arrest a person as granted by the constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that Musanze National Police College which was in the management of police will now be under the Ministry of Justice since it will help in augmenting capacities of employees of Rwanda Investigation Bureau.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Justice and the Attorney General, Johnston Busingye said that more efforts are needed to strengthen different government bodies. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn yesterday\u2019s cabinet meeting, it was approved to take similar step like is the case in police and Rwanda Correctional Service. The first step is to make the investigation department an independent body,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>The former Rwanda National Police College now becomes Rwanda Law Enforcement Academy.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThere are slight changes in Rwanda Correctional Services.
