{"id":27504,"date":"2016-08-06T14:56:04","date_gmt":"2016-08-06T14:56:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/mps-query-quality-of-education\/"},"modified":"2016-08-11T03:15:01","modified_gmt":"2016-08-11T03:15:01","slug":"mps-query-quality-of-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/mps-query-quality-of-education\/","title":{"rendered":"MPs query quality of education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Worries of quality education have been raised by parliamentarians as they queried continued employment of foreigners including teachers while many Rwandans remain jobless.}<\/p>\n<p>The concern was raised on Wednesday as parliamentarians discussed with four ministries having youth under their docket over programs aimed at enabling the youth to find or create jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The four stakeholders include the Ministry of Youth and ICT, the Ministry of Public Service and Labour, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Trade and Industry along with other institutions responsible for youth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a concern related to quality education. Some jobs need recruitment of foreigners to operate in Rwanda including hotels. Why aren\u2019t such jobs offered to Rwandans. It is a matter of quality education,\u201d said one parliamentarian.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is the quality of education of our vocational training schools? What is the capacity of their teachers? There are job opportunities but the problem is quality of education,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Talking on such concerns, the Minister of Education, Dr.Papias Musafiri Malimba said \u201cRegarding the matter of quality education, I would like to consent with parliamentarians for raised concerns. Today a person can\u2019t confirm that Rwanda has commendable quality education competing in the region or internationally.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Minister Musafiri explained that education quality is a journey. <\/p>\n<p>He said that entrepreneurship skills must be given much emphasis in Rwanda\u2019s education since every course has the potential of creating a job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo fill the gap we need to reform teaching methodology and change perceptions, \u201csaid Minister Musafiri.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that students should embrace the spirit of competitiveness so they can seek for opportunities beyond Rwanda\u2019s borders. <\/p>\n<p>Teaching methodology, offered courses, available classes, lecturers, competitiveness of students\u2019 acquired knowledge locally or internationally, the way graduates undertake research among other criteria of United Nations Education Fund (UNESCO) are considered in gauging education standards.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-14020 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/25018345029_eb30830534_c.jpg\" alt=\"The Minister of Education, Dr.Papias Musafiri Malimba\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Worries of quality education have been raised by parliamentarians as they queried continued employment of foreigners including teachers while many Rwandans remain jobless.} The concern was raised on Wednesday as parliamentarians discussed with four ministries having youth under their docket over programs aimed at enabling the youth to find or create jobs.
