{"id":27486,"date":"2016-08-06T01:47:30","date_gmt":"2016-08-06T01:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/kenya-police-officer-killed-in-tanker-crash\/"},"modified":"2016-08-06T01:47:12","modified_gmt":"2016-08-06T01:47:12","slug":"kenya-police-officer-killed-in-tanker-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/kenya-police-officer-killed-in-tanker-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya:Police officer killed in tanker crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The driver of the tanker survived the crash and was rushed to the Webuye Sub-County Hospital.}<\/p>\n<p>A police officer is among two people killed early Saturday morning in a crash involving two fuel tankers at Kaburengu Junction on the Webuye- Eldoret highway.<\/p>\n<p>According to eye witnesses, the policewoman and her colleagues were manning a roadblock when the tanker failed to stop and hit her.<\/p>\n<p>It dragged her for several metres before colliding with another tanker.<\/p>\n<p>The turn boy of the tanker was also killed in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the tanker survived the crash and was rushed to the Webuye Sub-County Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The two tankers were headed to Webuye from Eldoret.<\/p>\n<p>The crash caused a traffic snarl-up on the road.<\/p>\n<p>According to an eye witness Josephat Karanja, the driver of the tanker appeared to have lost control of the vehicle in the 1am incident<\/p>\n<p>Ms Millicent Awino, a resident, asked the government to erect bumps on the road.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This area has become a blackspot.
