{"id":26900,"date":"2016-07-14T06:57:23","date_gmt":"2016-07-14T06:57:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/president-kagame-receives-youngest-nobel-laureate\/"},"modified":"2016-07-16T10:35:13","modified_gmt":"2016-07-16T10:35:13","slug":"president-kagame-receives-youngest-nobel-laureate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/president-kagame-receives-youngest-nobel-laureate\/","title":{"rendered":"President Kagame receives youngest Nobel laureate, Malala"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{President Paul Kagame has received Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, a young lady who won the Prize at  17 for  kind acts of peace, promoting women\u2019s rights and education in Pakistan and across the world.}<\/p>\n<p>Malala arrived in Kigali yesterday on a  two-day visit to Rwanda as part of a wide program of celebrating her birthday and conducting mobilization for girls and women rights, putting an emphasis on their education as one of the pillars that can enable  sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>After meeting President Kagame, Malala unveiled her objective of raising girls\u2019 voice especially refugees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am in Africa and Rwanda .My intention is to ensure girls\u2019 voice is heard putting an emphasis on refugees. I went in Kenya and talked to children. I am right now in Rwanda where I want to talk to Burundi child refugees as African leaders are holding African Union summit in Kigali. I wish they took care on education rights, freedom of expression and press freedom,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Refugees and Disaster Management (MIDIMAR), Seraphine Mukantabana said that Malala comes to support Rwanda\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have warmly welcomed her and we are delighted for her trip since she came to support our existing programs of sending all children to school with equal treatment of girls and boys,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Malala who has come to Rwanda accompanied by her father is expected to visit Mahama Refugee Camp accommodating Burundi refugees today.<\/p>\n<p>Malala joined refugees in Dadaab camp from Kenya on Tuesday as she celebrated her 19th  birthday.<\/p>\n<p>The Mahama camp she\u2019s visiting today accommodates 74,000 Burundi refugees. <\/p>\n<p>The outspoken advocate for the education of girls in her native Pakistan was shot in the head and severely wounded in 2012 by Taliban militants while returning home from school.
