{President Paul Kagame has asked Rwandans to strive in making appropriate choices for themselves other than having choices influenced by others.}<\/p>\n

The President made the remarks in Rweru Sector, Bugesera District at an event to mark the 22nd anniversary of Rwanda\u2019s liberation, Kwibohora22. Accompanied by First Lady Jeannette Kagame, President Kagame toured Rweru Model Village where he visited a smart classroom and a biology laboratory. <\/p>\n

The Village was built by the Rwanda Defence Force in the on-going Army Week to mark the 22nd anniversary of liberation. Rweru Model Village is home to 451 Rwandans who were relocated from Mazane and Sharita islands in Rweru Lake.The Islands were mapped as high-risk zones. With connection to electricity and clean, drinkable water, the Village is comprised of a school, a health post, a modern market (Agakiriro) and has access to internet connection. In his address, President Kagame pointed out that having access to infrastructures like clean water, electricity, internet and others should never be taken as a miracle.<\/p>\n

President Kagame said that liberation goes hand in hand with Rwandans\u2019 desire, where they want to be and the way they want to live.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will always remind you that no one should determine our aspirations and destiny and who we want to become even though you will meet them always. You will meet people pretending to tell you where they want us to go,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRwandans, you should ask these people \u2018how come you want to determine my destination?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that liberation is about knowing expectations, where a person is heading to and the way to reach them.<\/p>\n

\u201cRealizing self dignity is making self choices and striving for it .Realizing self dignity is not cheap and not obtained accidently,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

President Kagame commended the country\u2019s army for tireless efforts in accomplishing their duties including security preservation and country\u2019s integrity extended to development activities.<\/p>\n

He said that the next stage of Rwanda\u2019s liberation is to liberate the country from any obstacles that stand in the way of sustainable development. \u201cLiving like people should live and taking it as if it was paradise means there is something missing.That\u2019s what we are struggling to liberate ourselves from.That is another step we must take in our liberation, every one of us should play his part for people to have basic needs and understand that it\u2019s their right,\u201d President Kagame said.<\/p>\n
