{"id":26609,"date":"2016-07-04T08:15:50","date_gmt":"2016-07-04T08:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/meeting-basic-needs-should-not-be-seen-as-a\/"},"modified":"2016-07-06T08:07:08","modified_gmt":"2016-07-06T08:07:08","slug":"meeting-basic-needs-should-not-be-seen-as-a","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/meeting-basic-needs-should-not-be-seen-as-a\/","title":{"rendered":"Meeting basic needs should not be seen as a miracle-President Kagame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{As Rwanda celebrates the 22nd liberation day, President Paul Kagame has told citizens that accessing health facilities should not be considered a miracle.}<\/p>\n<p>He noted this today as he joined Bugesera residents in the celebration of the 22nd liberation anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>President Kagame made the remarks following citizens\u2019 praise of the government that has made them all \u2018live in paradise\u2019 when the government transformed their livelihoods.<\/p>\n<p>Recently the government relocated 104 families of 451 people from remote areas of Mazane and Sharifa islands to Rweru sectors where the government built for them modern houses accompanied with infrastructures like roads, electricity and schools. <\/p>\n<p>These houses and infrastructures have been officially launched today as Rwanda celebrates the 22nd liberation day. Talking about the facilities, one of beneficiaries, Elevania Nyiraminani who talked on behalf of relocated citizens described hurdles they experienced when they lived in Mazane and Sharifa islands. <\/p>\n<p>She said that they were in remote area, without infrastructures presenting difficulties to trade and mobility, and fishing as the main activity was not lucrative and described the act of accessing the new facilities as miracle. <\/p>\n<p>A total of 104 families of 451 people were relocated to Rweru sector of Bugesera district while more 300 families remained on the islands. Relocated residents received modern houses and a multipurpose house accommodating 300 people, five computers helping to obtain government services, cows and farm with 100 hectares of arable land all of which have been officially launched today by President Paul Kagame.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on citizens\u2019 perception of new developments as miracle, President Paul Kagame said that life needs should not be taken as miracle. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cReaching standards in which people live and feel it like a miracle is not okay. As we fight poverty, people should know it\u2019s government\u2019s obligation to provide these amenities; electricity, education, health facilities etc. It is another milestone of liberation we want to make, reached by everyone while outcomes are availed to all,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRwanda has walked 22 years after the liberation struggle. There is still more to achieve .A s we remember our achievements, we must remember our tasks and seek to address challenges in the liberation journey,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>President Kagame said that liberation activities are being extended to all people and should not perceive them as miracles. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBad leaders deprived citizens of accessing health services.This went beyond and, besides, they would kill many people. The first liberation step was to remove that bad politics and supporters to go aside since it is not where they should be.
