{President Paul Kagame has received a delegation of 13 top managers of MasterCard Foundation in Rwanda to assess the implementation of projects they support and discuss on other areas to which they can extend support.}<\/p>\n
MasterCard Foundation is a Canadian non-governmental organization which pledged to provide USD 50 million dollars to support various projects in Rwanda including decentralization of financial services to the population, education and creating opportunities for Rwanda\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n
The delegation is led by Reeta Roy, president and CEO of MasterCard Foundation and the chair of MasterCard administrative board, Jim Leech who have been in Rwanda from June 12th to 16th, 2016.<\/p>\n
Talking to the media, Jim Leech said that their talks with President Kagame revolved around Rwanda\u2019s past, current progress and its vision.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have shared ideas on what we saw in some projects in connection with vision 2020.We have talked about Rwanda\u2019s vision 2050. It is for us to plan what we can do related to areas of government\u2019s priorities,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Some projects of MasterCard Foundation in Rwanda include \u2018Akazi Kanoze\u2019 which organizes trainings for students who completed secondary school to continue with studies, acquire skills and get footing on the market labor. <\/p>\n
MasterCard also supports 1200 vulnerable girls through FAWE Girls School to attend secondary school up to the university degree.<\/p>\n
Jim Leech has said that talks held with president Kagame helped them to deeply understand Rwanda\u2019s vision and noted that they will base on that in preparing more projects.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are delighted to continue investing in Rwanda. What remains is to discuss about the future, \u201che said.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Education, Dr. Papias Musafiri has said that there is hope that MasterCard Foundation will increase investment in Rwanda.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen they hear the vision of President Kagame and understand the government\u2019s vision in general, it increases willingness of extending investment in activities they launched,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Last year the CEO of MasterCard, Reeta agreed with President Kagame on how USD 50 million can be utilized in line with government programs other than transferring the aid through non-governmental organizations as it would occur.<\/p>\n
MasterCard Foundation supports more than 4.2 million people of whom the majority are from 25 African countries in capacity building, education job creation and decentralizing financial services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
