The president made the remark yesterday during the launch of a fuel depot constructed in Rusororo sector of Gasabo district constructed by Societe Petroliere Ltd (SP).

President Kagame said that the fact that Rwanda’s hotels prepare meals with imported foods from abroad might have caused serving food sparingly.

“All things in Rwanda are good. They were happy but there is one thing, the food portions were small. You go in a hotel, sit and receive a plate with one food type on one side and a flower. Then you pay and go, they have decried that,” he said.

President Paul Kagame said that what SP did is a testimony of how working together brings fruitful results and advised hoteliers to improve their catering services.

Rwanda has committed to earn more than USD 150 million every year from MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions).President Kagame finds that such objective can’t be attained unless the entire hospitality industry gets polished in terms of services delivery.

President Kagame highlighted the need to identify guests’ interests and urged them to correct mistakes quickly.

President Kagame expressed concern over some investors that do not fulfill the required investment practices including five stars hotels built in Kigali that import foods from abroad instead of buying from Rwandans.

“It is somehow irritating.
