{"id":25832,"date":"2016-06-05T04:42:12","date_gmt":"2016-06-05T04:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/children-who-grow-up-among-many-books-tend-to-be\/"},"modified":"2016-06-05T04:42:04","modified_gmt":"2016-06-05T04:42:04","slug":"children-who-grow-up-among-many-books-tend-to-be","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/children-who-grow-up-among-many-books-tend-to-be\/","title":{"rendered":"Children who grow up among many books tend  to be richer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{According to a new study published in the Economic Journal, Children who have a large number of books in the house when they are growing up tend to be higher earners later in life.}<\/p>\n<p>Economists Giorgio Brunello, Guglielmo Weber and Christoph Weiss found that, \u201cwhereas individuals in rural areas were most affected by [school] reforms [over the period studied], those with many books enjoyed substantially higher returns to their additional education\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>An extra year of schooling increased a man\u2019s average lifetime earnings by 9%.<\/p>\n<p>However, those brought up with very few books at home only saw a 5% rise in lifetime earnings resulting from an extra year\u2019s education.
