{"id":25790,"date":"2016-06-03T00:22:03","date_gmt":"2016-06-03T00:22:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/clarkson-hammond-and-may-show-to-begin-in\/"},"modified":"2016-06-03T00:21:52","modified_gmt":"2016-06-03T00:21:52","slug":"clarkson-hammond-and-may-show-to-begin-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/clarkson-hammond-and-may-show-to-begin-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Clarkson, Hammond and May show to begin in Johannesburg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The new TV series starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will record its first studio segments in South Africa.}<\/p>\n<p>The first episode of The Grand Tour, which is being made by Amazon Prime, will be filmed in Johannesburg in July.<\/p>\n<p>It will mark the trio&#8217;s first TV show since they exited Top Gear after Jeremy Clarkson punched a producer.<\/p>\n<p>May joked on Twitter that the location was &#8220;chosen by Richard Hammond, who&#8217;s run out of biltong&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>When one South African fan asked if the news was true, Hammond confirmed and suggested the team hold a braai &#8211; Afrikaans for barbecue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes, for real. We&#8217;ll have to have a Bra, a Bray, a, oh you know, a South African barbecue,&#8221; he wrote.<br \/>\nThe show will launch on Amazon Prime in the autumn, with each episode&#8217;s pre-recorded studio items filmed in a different country.<\/p>\n<p>Photos uploaded to The Grand Tour&#8217;s Facebook page show the trio have already begun shooting in Portugal, Germany, Barbados and North Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Jay Marine, vice president of Amazon Video Europe, said: &#8220;Given the popularity of Jeremy, Richard and James in South Africa, Johannesburg is a fantastic place to start.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Clarkson was suspended from Top Gear and later fired by the BBC after he punched Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon.<\/p>\n<p>Hammond and May quit the show shortly after.<\/p>\n<p>The trio were replaced on the show by former Friends actor Matt LeBlanc, BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, and an extensive cast of co-presenters.<\/p>\n<p>The new series of Top Gear made its debut on Sunday to more than four million viewers and mixed reviews.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-12585 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/_89862608_chmpa.jpg\" alt=\"The Grand Tour will launch on Amazon Prime this autumn.\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{The new TV series starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will record its first studio segments in South Africa.} The first episode of The Grand Tour, which is being made by Amazon Prime, will be filmed in Johannesburg in July.
