{"id":25752,"date":"2016-06-02T01:25:29","date_gmt":"2016-06-02T01:25:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/blood-transfusion-meet-opens-in-kigali-calls-for\/"},"modified":"2016-06-03T22:26:56","modified_gmt":"2016-06-03T22:26:56","slug":"blood-transfusion-meet-opens-in-kigali-calls-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/blood-transfusion-meet-opens-in-kigali-calls-for\/","title":{"rendered":"Blood transfusion meet opens in Kigali, calls for more efforts in availing blood to patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The director of Africa Society for Blood Transfusion (AfSBT), Jean Baptiste Tapco has expressed concern over inadequate knowledge of health care service providers and improper performance of some institutions which may result in transfusing contaminated blood to the  patients.}<\/p>\n<p>He noted this yesterday during the beginning of the 8th summit of AfSBT.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes blood transferred to patients in need is little or blood bankers\u2019 knowledge is inadequate which results into patients\u2019 deaths. This adds to malfunction of some institutions in charge of blood distribution that people may receive blood containing virus causing hepatitis or AIDS,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tapco noted that Rwanda has demonstrated that progress can be attained and finds that countries should learn from Rwanda\u2019s achievements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRwanda has shown the possibility of reaching development through implementing good policies.
