{"id":25648,"date":"2016-05-28T23:55:11","date_gmt":"2016-05-28T23:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/security-is-everyone-s-responsibility-acp-nkwaya\/"},"modified":"2016-05-28T23:55:04","modified_gmt":"2016-05-28T23:55:04","slug":"security-is-everyone-s-responsibility-acp-nkwaya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/security-is-everyone-s-responsibility-acp-nkwaya\/","title":{"rendered":"Security is everyone\u2019s responsibility: ACP Nkwaya argued COPERU Members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{The Southern Region Police Commander (RPC), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Francis Nkwaya has told the residents of Ruhango  that security is the responsibility of everyone.}<\/p>\n<p>He urged them to be mindful of the safety and security in their localities by working as a team with all security and governance entities to detect and report any suspected unlawful act for immediate response and crime prevention.<\/p>\n<p>The RPC made the call on May 27 in Ruhango District in a meeting that brought together about 500 residents of Mbuye Sector.<\/p>\n<p>This was shortly after a community exercise that brought together police, local leaders and residents organized in a cooperative \u2013 COPERU \u2013 to rehabilitate sand mining pits in Mbuye and Kinazi sectors.<\/p>\n<p>ACP Nkwaya observed that our country is safer and secure, but added that \u201cwe can\u2019t lean back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou equally have a duty to fight anything unlawful by providing information on anything that violates the rights of people\u2019s wellbeing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecurity provides a platform for the success of families and communities and ensuring it should as well be the responsibility of all Rwandans,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He also challenged them to also be active in the government development programmes like Umuganda \u2013 monthly community work and subscribe to public medical insurance scheme \u2013 Mutuelle de Sante.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe success of community policing initiatives like Irondo \u2013 community night patrols \u2013 depends on how effective each one of you plays his or her part.
