{The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) has observed that Rwanda is a good example that Africa can attain fast environment friendly development.}<\/p>\n
This was unveiled yesterday during the presentation of the 2016 report on Africa\u2019s and Rwanda\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
The deputy executive secretary of UNECA, Giovanie Biha said that attaining shared climate change resilient economy in Africa is easy and cheap pointing out examples of Rwanda\u2019s programs including Girinka, community work and performance contract among others.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfrican continent has opportunities of learning from history of other countries. In this region, Rwanda puts efforts in reaching economic development resilient to climate change. Let us go in line with performance contracts so that the plan of countries striving for climate change resilient economy can be successful,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
He said that Africa can reach industrialization and economy friendly to the environment if it emulates Rwanda\u2019s model of adopting community work.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Natural Ressources, Dr. Vincent Biruta said that the report comes at a time when it is needed since Rwanda has started a program of extracting new materials from wastes while the country implemented a fund to support climate change resilient projects.<\/p>\n
The head of economic department at the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), Prof Thomas Kigabo said that presented reports contain good lessons for countries which have embraced strategies towards citizens economic development which may be a model for Africa\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n
Africa has not yet got many industries but is affected but climate change including floods and drought.<\/p>\n
