{The senate of Rwanda has revealed that some of its tasks were not accomplished successfully as result of inadequate staff despite the wide number of laws they had to vote for. As senates said concentration on voting laws affected other activities they would have done.}<\/p>\n

It was revealed yesterday as Rwanda\u2019s senates started a two days retreat. <\/p>\n

The current senate staff has been seating on leadership for four years and half among eight years of their mandate granted by the constitution of the Republic of Rwanda.<\/p>\n

Throughout the period of four years senators voted 210 laws and exercise other tasks including the confirmation of government leaders among others.<\/p>\n

The vice president of the senate, Harerimana Fatou said that they have faced challenges of inadequate staff which hampered effective accomplishment of their duties as required.<\/p>\n

These employees said to be inadequate include legal advisors among others .He said that they hope improved performance since the gap was filled as lacking employees have been recruited.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll workers are available, it is clear that we will not face similar challenge,\u201d he said.
\nThe president of senate, Bernard Makuza that the retreat is expected to assess various activities including the way of connecting their responsibilities to government\u2019s programs.<\/p>\n

The senate votes for laws regarding constitutional reform, laws confirming some of international agreements and laws connected to nation\u2019s security among others. <\/p>\n

The senate is supposed to follow up basic principles of the country\u2019s policy, development goals and the government\u2019s seven years plan.<\/p>\n

It is particularly tasked to follow up laws regarding the eradication of genocide ideology, promoting Rwandans\u2019 unity, eradicating divisionism and free power sharing.<\/p>\n

It has also responsibilities of ensuring that the country respects democracy norms, establishing the nation striving for citizens\u2019 welfare and enabling equal chances in livelihoods and addressing problems through dialogue and consent.<\/p>\n
