{"id":25480,"date":"2016-05-22T00:57:30","date_gmt":"2016-05-22T00:57:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/acp-nkwaya-challenges-kamonyi-taxi-moto-operators\/"},"modified":"2016-05-22T00:56:52","modified_gmt":"2016-05-22T00:56:52","slug":"acp-nkwaya-challenges-kamonyi-taxi-moto-operators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/acp-nkwaya-challenges-kamonyi-taxi-moto-operators\/","title":{"rendered":"ACP Nkwaya challenges Kamonyi taxi-moto operators on security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Southern Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Francis Nkwaya, on May 20, met with over 250 commercial motorcyclists operating in Kamonyi District and challenged them to mind about the safety and security of their country, which paves way for the smooth running of their transport business.<\/p>\n<p>ACP Nkwaya delivered the message during a meeting that brought together taxi-moto operators organized in two cooperatives; Costamoka and Kamotraco.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe country values the work you do but it has to be done in an orderly and professional manner that doesn\u2019t affect other people\u2019s wellbeing or hide behind it to commit crimes,\u201d ACP Nkwaya said.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to reassure them of continued partnership with Rwanda National Police (RNP) in crime prevention and emphasize that discipline is the only way that would cement the partnership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are reports of some motorists who are involved in drug trafficking or comsuption; you should not let such people taint your profession. Remember you equally have an obligation tobreport these people to security organs\u2026. Also adequate and effective sharing of information with the police is paramount in ensuring public safety and the safety of your profession,\u201d said the RPC.<\/p>\n<p>With regards to road safety, ACP Nkwaya warned them against reckless riding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of you are young, others have families, there is no reason for you to ride carelessly; we want you in good health, your country still needs you; there is a lot you can do for your country and your families that\u2019s why your profession is considered of high value to Rwandans. There is no need for you to behave recklessly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, one of the motorcyclists, Bonaventure Habimana detailed how his motorcycle was once stolen, he reported the case to police that investigated and recovered it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is proof that, if we want to keep in business and make profits, we have to own our security and partner with security organs at all times.<\/p>\n<p>Celestin Munyankindi, a local leader who attended the meeting, took stock of police\u2019s continued sensitization campaigns saying that; \u201cas local leaders, we are witnessing the impact of these meeting, there is a significant positive attitude among people when it comes to matters of security; we can only be active partners with the police and double the momentum.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Southern Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Francis Nkwaya, on May 20, met with over 250 commercial motorcyclists operating in Kamonyi District and challenged them to mind about the safety and security of their country, which paves way for the smooth running of their transport business.
