{"id":254,"date":"2011-05-26T11:32:23","date_gmt":"2011-05-26T11:32:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/bk-unveils-three-new-products-as-part-of-poverty\/"},"modified":"2011-05-26T11:31:26","modified_gmt":"2011-05-26T11:31:26","slug":"bk-unveils-three-new-products-as-part-of-poverty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/bk-unveils-three-new-products-as-part-of-poverty\/","title":{"rendered":"BK unveils three new products as part of poverty alleviation drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Rwandan\u2019s leading commercial bank, Bank of Kigali <span data-scaytid=\"2\" data-scayt_word=\"BK\">BK<\/span> has launched three new products as part of a campaign to alleviate poverty.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These include&nbsp;; Women Entrepreneurship Facility (<span data-scaytid=\"4\" data-scayt_word=\"Intambwe\">Intambwe<\/span> <span data-scaytid=\"5\" data-scayt_word=\"y\u2019abanyarwandakazi\">y\u2019abanyarwandakazi<\/span>), Youth Entrepreneurship Savings Account (<span data-scaytid=\"7\" data-scayt_word=\"YESA\">YESA<\/span> <span data-scaytid=\"8\" data-scayt_word=\"SINGIRA\">SINGIRA<\/span>) and also Senior Loans and Savings Account (<span data-scaytid=\"9\" data-scayt_word=\"Ntugasaze\">Ntugasaze<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Lawson <span data-scaytid=\"10\" data-scayt_word=\"Naibo\">Naibo<\/span>, the Bank\u2019s Chief Operating Officer, pointed out that the <span data-scaytid=\"12\" data-scayt_word=\"intambwe\">intambwe<\/span> <span data-scaytid=\"6\" data-scayt_word=\"y\u2019abanyarwandakazi\">y\u2019abanyarwandakazi<\/span> product which targets women entrepreneurs, would facilitate them to access credit and financial advice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will be done particularly to transform the lives of the women who earn less but with sensitive ideas that can contribute to the society,\u201d <span data-scaytid=\"11\" data-scayt_word=\"Naibo\">Naibo<\/span> said at the launch.<\/p>\n<p>In a written statement, the bank\u2019s Managing Director James <span data-scaytid=\"13\" data-scayt_word=\"Gatera\">Gatera<\/span> said the product is intended to facilitate women entrepreneurs in the low end market and also to aptly fit the government\u2019s policy and plan to ensure gender mainstreaming and full participation of women in all activities related to socio-economic development of the nation.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Youth Sports and Culture (<span data-scaytid=\"14\" data-scayt_word=\"MIJESPOC\">MIJESPOC<\/span>), <span data-scaytid=\"15\" data-scayt_word=\"Protais\">Protais<\/span> <span data-scaytid=\"16\" data-scayt_word=\"Mitali\">Mitali<\/span> who was the Chief Guest during the launch highly welcomed the projects and particularly <span data-scaytid=\"17\" data-scayt_word=\"emphasised\">emphasised<\/span> on the Youth Entrepreneurship Savings Account.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAm very happy about the product because youth will have the opportunity to access the credit without <span data-scaytid=\"18\" data-scayt_word=\"collaterals\">collaterals<\/span>,\u201d <span data-scaytid=\"19\" data-scayt_word=\"Mitari\">Mitari<\/span> told <span data-scaytid=\"1\" data-scayt_word=\"IGIHE.COM\">IGIHE.COM<\/span>.&nbsp;He added that since the youth has no security to present to the banks to access credit, the product would help them.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister challenged the youth to visit the bank to obtain more information on the product so that they can get involved and ultimately become job creators instead of job seekers.<\/p>\n<p>He also added that his ministry would seek for other possible means to support the unveiled products.<\/p>\n<p>The three products unveiled by <span data-scaytid=\"3\" data-scayt_word=\"BK\">BK<\/span> are all guarantee free. The bank would help to connect clients with one of two <span data-scaytid=\"20\" data-scayt_word=\"organisations\">organisations<\/span> to provide guarantees and the client would easily access the credit.<\/p>\n<p>The two organizations are the French Agency for Development (<span data-scaytid=\"21\" data-scayt_word=\"AFD\">AFD<\/span>) which has branch offices based in Kenya and the Rwanda Development Bank (<span data-scaytid=\"22\" data-scayt_word=\"BRD\">BRD<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>The credit ranges from <span data-scaytid=\"23\" data-scayt_word=\"RWF\">RWF<\/span> 100,000 to <span data-scaytid=\"24\" data-scayt_word=\"RWF\">RWF<\/span> <span data-scaytid=\"25\" data-scayt_word=\"5m\">5m<\/span> depending on the project presented to the bank by a client.<\/p>\n<p>The credit will be paid back in a period of six months to two years and beyond depending on the income of the borrower at an interest rate of 1.4 percent per month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rwandan\u2019s leading commercial bank, Bank of Kigali BK has launched three new products as part of a campaign to alleviate poverty.
