{Residents of Musanze District have been called upon not to cover up anyone involved in illegal or criminal activities so as to be on a preventive side rather that dealing with the consequences.}<\/p>\n
The Mayor of Musanze, Jean Claude Musabyimana made the call on May 9 during a community security meeting held in Busogo Sector and attended by about 3000 residents.<\/p>\n
Musabyimana said that any crime or unlawful act, however minor it appears, has its impact on the people\u2019s well-being and the country in general.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe should all be policing agents; under community policing, everyone is empowered to report and fight a crime and all it requires is for all of you to share information with police on anything suspicious or people intending or committing a crime,\u201d Musabyimana told the residents.<\/p>\n
He urged them to strengthen their community night patrols, break silence on anyone they suspect to be involved in criminal activities, regardless of who they are or the relationship.<\/p>\n
Inspector of Police (IP) Viateur Ntiyamira, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) of Musanze urged them to embrace neighborhood watch.<\/p>\n
IP Ntiyamira pointed out that crimes like drug abuse are still common in the district, which requires joint efforts to identify the suppliers as means to break the supply chain.<\/p>\n
He was, however, quick to commend their role in community policing, but added that there\u2019s still need to strengthen the existing partnership to narrow the gap that criminals take advantage of.<\/p>\n
The meeting focused on building a strong bond between the residents, police and local leaders to detect, fight and prevent crimes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
